The energy delivered: 2-0 at Marques da Silva
We asked for the same energy and it showed up. AD Ovarense hosted UD Sousense in the 3rd round of the Campeonato de Portugal 2026/27 and had the game wrapped up inside the first half: 2-0, with goals from Luís Cacheira and Rúben Fonseca within four minutes of each other.
1st half — two goals in four minutes
The first booking of the match went our way, at 24 minutes, for Ivo Almeida. The response came on the pitch: at 34', Luís Cacheira opened the scoring — his first goal of the season; at 38', Rúben Fonseca made it two, his second in the competition following the penalty against U. Lamas. Half-time: 2-0.
António Sérgio Martins did not wait for the dressing room to make changes: at 45 minutes he made two substitutions at once, bringing on Rafael Braga and Daniel Gabriel.
2nd half — control, and Sousense down to ten
The second half brought more discipline than goals. UD Sousense were booked at 56' and 59' and made a triple substitution at 67'. Hélder Castro responded in stages: at 63' came Vitinha and Leandro Tigre, at 78' Guilherme Vasconcelos, and at 85' Bavikson and Kwaku Boateng.
At 81', the game was definitively put to bed: red card for Cláudio Lopes, who had come on at 67, leaving UD Sousense to see out the final quarter of an hour with ten men. The Vareiros managed the game to the final whistle. Seven minutes of added time and it was done.
